Collagen Induction Therapy / Skin Needling
What is Collagen Induction Therapy / Skin Needling
Collagen induction therapy ALSO know as Skin Needling or derma pen is the use of a skin needling device that stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and may aid in the reduction of scarring and pigmentation.
The activation of the fibroblasts via skin needling improves firmness and hydration of your skin cells, by increasing glycosaminoglycans (Also known as GAG’S: These increase the hydration, elasticity and pliability of skin, connective tissue and joints) collagen and elastin. Promoting firmness, hydration and elasticity.
Keratinocyte cells (these cells are responsible for releasing key growth factors) facilitate skin rejuvenation, increases firmness and improves the barrier function of the skin. Increasing barrier function helps to prevent TEWL Transepidermal water loss. Which means your skin stays more hydrated and plump.
Skin needling can be used to treat the fragile skin around the eyes and lips, cheeks, jawline, neck and décolletage. Aids in the smoothing of raised scar tissue ie Keloid scarring.
Skin needling devices, can also be used to decrease the depth of ice pick scarring, caused by trauma or Acne: They can also be used to help break down excess melanin in a pigmented area with the aid of topical antioxidant products.
Collagen induction therapy can be performed on most skin types, resulting in smoother, firmer, healthier skin with increased hydration.

Nutritional supplements for optimal healing and assisting the laying down of collagen and elastin fibres, will also be required.
Facials and peels are recommended in between skin needling, to remove repair and maintain the skin in a healthy condition. This may be performed in salon. In addition Home Peeling kits can be purchased in clinic along with home needling rollers.
